How to Join as a Cleaner
Everything you need to prepare, and exactly what happens after you apply — so your application goes through first time.
What you’ll need before you start
Having these ready before you apply makes the whole process quicker.
- You’re 18 or over with the right to work in the UK.
- Valid photo ID — a passport or UK driving licence. You’ll show it on a short live video call.
- Your own Public Liability insurance, minimum £1 million, valid for domestic cleaning. You’ll provide the certificate so we can verify it.
- Two contactable references — a character or work reference.
- A recent headshot: head and shoulders, plain white background, clear and well lit. You’ll upload it to your profile — it’s the photo customers see once you accept a job.
- Every cleaner completes a Basic DBS check through our verification partner before their first job.
What you’ll earn
£17 an hour on one-off cleans, whatever the length of the job.
£14 an hour on fortnightly cleans. It’s lower per hour because the work is different: a fortnightly customer becomes yours. Clean for them once and you’ll normally get first refusal on every clean they book after that — the same home, the same routine, no travelling somewhere new each time. A 3-hour fortnightly clean pays £42, and a 5-hour clean pays £70.
If you turn down two of their cleans in a row, or either of you would rather stop, the arrangement ends and their cleans go back to being offered around.
Tydfy charges the customer more than we pay you. That difference covers vetting, insurance checks, payment processing, customer support, and finding you the work.

How joining works

- We contact your references — only one referee needs to reply before your checks can start.
- Log in straight away and complete your profile: accept the Cleaner Agreement, set up your bank account for payment, and upload your headshot and public liability insurance certificate.
- A short video call — about 5 minutes, usually WhatsApp — where you’ll show your photo ID.
- Identity, right to work and Basic DBS check through our verification partner’s secure site, at our cost.
- Start receiving job offers.
How we verify you
There’s nothing to upload with your application. All checks are at our cost — never yours. Here’s what happens after you apply:
